I just got a new computer for my business and I installed the newest version of thunderbird and my invoicing software QuickBooks 2020. For some reason Thunderbird is not popping up in the "send forms" section of QuickBooks to allow to send invoices to my customers. On my old PC "Mozilla Thunderbird" popped up as an option and on my new PC there no option. I'm still using the same version of QuickBooks as before the only thing that changed is I went from windows 10 to 11 and from a 2020 version of Thunderbird to one I installed on Feb 2025. I tried setting it up manually and i cant get it to work. I also read only that this is common with the newer versions, is there any way to make the newer version of Thunderbird work with QuickBooks? Using Nord VPN:

  All gmail accounts are set up for imap on Thunderbird:
    1) With VPN on, I cannot send/receive emails from/to my gmail accounts using Thunderbird.
    2) With VPN off, I can send/receive emails from/to my gmail accounts
    3) With VPN on or off and logged directly on mail.google.com, I am able to send/receive emails

And, yes, I have tried different port numbers and all server info is correct for imap on Thunderbird as indicated by #2 above. This change happened overnight and Thunderbird always worked faultlessly with Nord VPN for years. I don't think we can blame Nord VPN for this, given #3 above.

Your thoughts?

I've had this problem for a while on two computers, and through a few versions. I have also created a new profile on one (as the old profile was for some reason locking up every time I used it, and thankfully I use IMAP, so it was easy to recreate).

I have sub folders on my mail server (currently delivered by Exim and Dovecot for the IMAP folder structure) and when I expand the sub folders to select one I am unable to select the top one until I have selected another one. Clicking on it does nothing, but clicking on another and seeing the messages in there, then clicking on it shows the messages. This only happens with the top folder, so I'm wondering if the code is somehow classing that as already selected.

I thought I'd ask here before looking into raising a bug report.

I installed the current version of Thunderbird yesterday. I am using IMAP. It is only showing the emails received since yesterday - nothing older. I can see the older emails via my ISP browser based webmail interface.

I have tried recreating the account settings, synchronising All, synchronising past 5 years - but it stubbornly refuses to fetch the older emails.

What other steps can I take to resovle this?

I recently lost all my Stored messages (don't know what I did). I have tried restoring everything from my backup device with no success. My backup data is as follows:- Chris's email 3.2.25 (version 128.6.1est (64 bit) Thunderbird Profiles jb1w6eta-esr imapMail imap.virginmedia.com

My stored folders are there.

I have tried importing using Thunderbird Tools Import From a Thunderbird Installation Choose a Profile folder I have then entered various levels of above backup They all say complete without actually transferring any data.

The current level of Thunderbird I have installed is 128.7.1esr.. Since this is different from the backup could that have an effect or am I missing a step in the import procedure?

Hi, I have just set-up 2 new Hotmail accounts & checked them both etc & both are working perfectly through Outlook. I also have 2 old/existing Hotmail accounts that too are working perfectly through both Outlook & Thunderbird. All accounts are set-up in Thunderbird using POP3 using OAuth2 authentification for both POP3 & SMTP servers. Unfortunately, I am having trouble adding both the 2 new Hotmail accounts to Thunderbird. When adding an account & inputting "Name", "Email Address" & "Password" & then enter I receive the message in a green bar stating "Configuration found in Mozilla ISP database"............brilliant !!! I then select the "POP3" button & hit the box "Done" Normally, all would be accepted to which I would finally click on the box "Finish" & my account would be added. Instead, I now get an error message in a yellow box stating "Unable to log in at srver. Probably wrong configuration, username or password" ? These are 2 new Hotmail accounts I have only JUST set-up. The details entered are all correct & log me into Outlook with no problems & work perfectly sending & receiving. As for "Configuration" I just let Thunderbird set the POP3 settings as done with the 2 old/existing Hotmail accounts which go in perfectly through Thunderbird. Is there something causing this with new hotmail accounts ?

Zmieniłem ustawienia serwera, aby się program nie synchronizował, ponieważ zmieniałem pracę chciałem mieć kopię wiadomości email u siebie na komputerze w domu. Przez jakiś czas wszystkie wiadomości był. W dniu wczorajszym zobaczyłem, że nie ma żadnych wiadomości. Wszystko znikło. Proszę o informację co się mogło stać i jak odzyskać wiadomości.

Suddenly I can no longer receive email.

I deleted all thunderbird profiles and reinstalled. At the time of the first sync, all emails were displayed, but for new emails after that, I cannot see them at all.

I think it is a thunderbird problem because I am able to receive them with another mailer. Sending is working fine.

Please let us know how to improve the problem.

I have lots of filters to organize my copious incoming mail. Messages get moved into topical boxes. Recently I've noticed that a mailbox has unread messages in it and when I open it, I see the new messages for an instant and then they disappear. And another mailbox now has unread messages. So it seems that the filters run on the inbox when the mail is received and then they are run again (but a different set are applied) when I open the mailbox they got moved to by the first run. I see no settings in the Filters dialog that has anything to do with this behaviour. Why is this happening and how can I stop it?

BTW, most of my filters have Stop Execution as the last step. (Most only have a single Move to... action followed by Stop. And for performance reasons, all newly created filters should have Stop as an automatic 2nd step since most users wouldn't think to do this. )

I put some messages into folders yesterday and then created another folder and dragged the first folder into it to become a subfolder.

When I did this, I saw the new folder but it couldn’t be expanded to show the subfolders.

All other mail clients showed the correct hierarchy except Thunderbird.

Why is this happening?

Secondly, I post comments on the thunderbird blog regularly but they never show up. Where are they disappearing to? Are you receiving them?

Error "Messages could not be filtered"

I get the error message shown in the attached screenshot when downloading my emails from outlook.com to a local folder called "DAD". Some messages get filtered, some not. Those that don't get filtered successfully remain in the Inbox, but a message with empty content does appear in the local folder, and cannot be deleted or moved. Re-running the message filters manually will moved the affected messages across, but the "corrupt" message remains in the target folder and cannot be deleted or moved.

The drive that the folders are located on is my data drive, which has c 250gb of unused spaced. WIndows 11, Thunderbird 128.6.1 (64-bit), installed a few days ago when I moved from another machine.
