I've recently installed Thunderbird 128. I want to setup auto-reply but I have not found where to enable it despite looking through Settings and Account Settings.

I have composed an auto-reply and saved it as a Template - however, I cannot find where it is saved.

Also, the Actions in Manage Message Filters does not list "Reply with Template".

Any idea how to resolve this, please?

Suddenly, bizarrely, some of my sub folders have disappeared. They are not "greyed out". They have totally disappeared. I now missing important content, that I need. I have been unable to find a solution by browsing on this forum. Can anyone help? And if they are gone for good, can anyone suggest how I can prevent this from happening again?

I always find it useful. I have one problem. I usually only display [Attachments][Subject][Recipient][Date], but the default displays [Thread][Star], etc., and I have to edit them each time. Is it possible to create a [User default] by changing the settings? Thank you.

Thunderbird would not open so I called a technician who set it back up. I have the icon on my desk to, but it will not open and I have to go back to Tunderbird Set up # 128 and reinstall it. What shall I do. Thank you, Treva

Thunderbird by default abreviates new groups, which makes our review news groups unintelligible. This has been dealt with before, but solutions are not working for me on the newest Thunderbird. Alternative solution :

I can change the setting mail.server.default.abbreviate, but it does not change the display without a reset. After a reset the setting is back to true.

The link mentions saving the setting with a tick box, but I cannot see a tick box.

I've tried long and hard, but can't find any other place to submit a new feature request.

The "From" field shows a sender's name (such as J Smith) or whatever text the sender chooses. So I get messages that are from "open immediately (DTP)", which says nothing and is utterly meaningless. Yes, clicking on that row/message shows the sender's address in the header block below the list. But there may be dozens of messages (especially those begging for money), and I shouldn't have to click through every one to see who it's actually from. I want to see at a glance the actual email addresses in the From field/column.

If this is already possible, please show me how to do it. If it isn't, I propose it as a new feature, another field/column that a user can select from the right-click list.

3 Days ago Thunderbird, Firefox and Windows 11 all updated at the same time. Now, every time I close and reopen Thunderbird, it takes me back to the "Setup your existing email" page, and I have to create a new profile and start over. I then restore my email and settings, etc. via a backup, only to have the same thing happen the next time I open Thunderbird. Firefox is being similarly affected, but not quite to the same degree. I don't lose my bookmarks, but all my settings have to be restored. I'm using Bitdefender Total Security, and have turned everything off, and the same thing happens. I've been using all these programs for years, and Windows 11 for over a year with no problems. Please help.

Hello, I am receiving alerts that say I am about to override how thunderbird identifies this site when sending emails. It says to get a certificate. Please call me @ [edited phone# from public community support forum]. I'm not too computer savy.

I BACKED UP MY EMAIL USING TOOLS BACKUP. WHEN I WENT TO RESTORE IT WOULD NOT ALLOW BECAUSE OF LARGER THAN 2GIG.

Around 3:15 pm yesterday, I stopped getting emails from Outlook (Hotmail). I can send emails out. When I check activity manager, I see: Connection to server outlook.office365.com timed out Why? I Did not change anything. My settings are: Server Type: POP Mail Server Server Name: outlook.office365.com Port: 995 Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication Method: OAuth2

Update (11/18/24 12:58) At 11:00 today all of a sudden, I got all my messages from Outlook (Hotmail), but nothing since then again. I do not know what is going on. Is it the Thunderbird's problem or Outlook's. Outlook support claims everything is OK on their side.

Update (11/18/24) 17:11 No emails are coming from Outlook. I THINK THIS VERSION OF THUNDERBIRD (128.4.3esr (32-bit)) IS BAD. ACTIVITY MANAGER SHOWS OUTLOOK CONNECTION TIMEOUTS FROM 3 HOURS AGO. THUNDERBIRD IS SUPPOSED TO DOWNLOAD EMAILS EVERY 5 MINUTES! I EMPTIED TRASH AND THIS EVENT WAS POSTED TO ACTIVITY MANAGER ALONG WITH 2 OTHER EVENTS SAYING THAT 2 OF MY LOCAL FOLDERS WERE DELETED WHICH I NEVER REQUESTED.

I'm working in Windows 11 on my PC and can't find the menu tab to change layout of my email. The only instructions I see were posted ibn 2017. Why is this so difficult?

I am running Thunderbird 128.4.3 under Windows 11 Pro 23H2 with 3 Gmail accounts and 1 Comcast. Normally I receive several hundred emails a day but about 8 days ago they stopped arriving with only 1 or 2 coming daily. I've reinstalled Thunderbird, rebuilt the global-messages-db.sqlite file (overe 3 days, 9.5 Gbytes), temporarily turned off Norton, but no improvement. It appears that I can not attach the Troubleshooting log so below are the server specs and the top of the log. Even though nothing is downloading, Thunderbird is taking up about 5% of the CPU. It appeared that the server was attempting to provide them as indicated by a changing tally at the bottom of the window, but nothing arrived.

What is going on? How can I fix this?

Thunderbird suddenly cannot receive emails. I get the message "Login to server imap.mail.att.net with username jonnak@ameritech.net failed." Also, it will send emails but not retain a copy. No passwords have changed.

Thank you for coming back to me. Hopefully I am on the right site now. A few days back my laptop computer was compromised and I was instructed by my bank to a factory restart which meant I lost all of my apps etc. I have restored most of my previous apps but have been unable to restore my Thunderbird Email system I have been using for over four years and find it great but I have lost access to all my contact addresses and saved emails. I have tried to restore the system and have reset my password but when I get to the point of completion and click "done" I get the message "unable to log in at the server. Probably wrong configuration, User name or Password. I have been very happy with Thunderbird for many years now and hopefully things can be retreived.
